Chairman Message

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is a great pleasure welcoming you all in Doha for the Thirteenth UNCTAD.The member States have chosen for this year conference two components most relevant to people's lives, that is development and globalization. We all know how vital the relationship between economic, political and social are, where changes in one aspect generate changes in others. As we are, civil society organization, we are highly committed to human rights and share your concern in relation to the inequality not only between people but also between nations.

The theme and the sub themes are well suited to what is happening in the world around us and particularly in the present political climate of the Arab world. Moreover, the conference is convening at a time where the world is going through a crisis of trust between people and their governments and the deteriorating economic situation in terms of high unemployment, low wages, poverty and inequality all contributed to the upheaval that swept some of the Arab countries.
Here in HRNC in Qatar, we support and facilitate your effort and wish your forum success.
I have no illusion your valuable contribution will touch upon the topics that are part and parcel of the central themes and the sub themes.
